Open philosophy, full transparency
Questions, answered.
We get a lot of them. No additives, no chemicals, no "natural flavors," ever. Unpasteurized, unfiltered, sugar-free, made with earth-grown ingredients. Here's the detail behind that.
Is your cider gluten free?
Yes. Cider and apples are naturally gluten free. With rare exceptions, everything we make is gluten free unless specifically noted. A cider aged in a bourbon barrel could contain gluten, for instance, but that isn't something Lost Boy offers. If you're celiac or have severe allergies, talk with the tasting room staff before you order.
Where do you source your apples?
All of our apples come from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, some from trees planted almost 200 years ago. The apples are pressed in Winchester, and the juice travels to our fermenting facility in Old Town Alexandria in an old milk tanker that holds about 4,500 gallons a run.
What is "dry cider"?
Dry means the yeast has consumed all of the natural sugar in the fresh juice during fermentation, producing alcohol and CO₂. A cidermaker can stop fermentation early and leave sugar behind, or let it run to completion. We let it run. At the end there's no remaining sugar, or so little that it can't be measured.
How many calories does your cider have?
Based on our internal calculations, roughly 140 calories per 12oz for the flagships: Comeback Kid, Wingman and Juicy.
How much sugar is in your cider?
None in the flagships. We're a dry cider company (mostly). Where a cider does carry residual sugar, we say so with the "RS" number on the menu and the can.
How many carbohydrates?
Flagships and dry ciders, about 5 carbs per 12oz. Ciders that aren't sugar free, an estimated 8–12 carbs per 12oz.
Is it vegan?
Yes. Apples, yeast, and real fruit, hops or spices. Nothing from animals, no fining with animal products.
Can I bring kids and dogs?
Both, with a few house rules. They're on the Visit page.
Do you serve food?
No kitchen, but food trucks park out front most Thursdays through Saturdays from 4 PM, and you're welcome to bring food in.
Do you ship?
Yes, to 40+ states through Vinoshipper. Ship cider here.
